Different channels on different devices?

Jump to solution

I have three different roku devices linked on my account.  I want to remove a couple channels from two devices while leaving the channels on the last.  Is there a way to do this?

Channels on your Roku account are added to all Rokus linked to that account.  The only exceptions are channels that require the capabilities of newer units and so can't be run on older ones.   Add a channel to one, you add it to all.  Remove from one you remove from all.

The only way to have separate groups of channels on different units is to create additional Roku accounts (for which you'll need separate email addresses) for each channel collection and link each device to the appropriate Roku account.  To link an already-setup Roku to a new account, you have to do a factory reset on the device and set it up from scratch.

Caveat:  Any paid subscriptions you have obtained through the Roku are tied to the Roku account on which they were made and the subscription will not carry over to another Roku account.  Any paid subscriptions made directly with the channel should be usable on additional Roku accounts.

IMPORTANT! When linking your device you may be directed to go to roku.com/link via a computer or mobile device. Type this in very carefully and verify that you actually do go there. Otherwise you can end up at a scammer's fake Roku site where they may request you to pay bogus charges (Roku does NOT charge to link a device no matter how many you have) and will collect your payment and Roku account information to use as they wish. If you end up at ANY site not on roku.com (other than the https://my.roku.com/link that you'll get redirected to), back out and try again.
