Just turned on my TV to see a video open on the home screen and play some trailer? I hope this was a fluke. I trashed all of my Amazon boxes years ago because of this garbage. If it keeps up, my Rokus will be next.
So I just experienced my first "auto-play" ad on the home screen. Pressed the "home" button and a video ad for Moana started playing and it wouldn't let me navigate away from it. I am totally NOT a fan of something that I cannot click away. I'm perfectly fine with ads on the screen and in the screensaver and whatnot, but hijacking the home screen so that you can't even use it for several seconds is completely unacceptable. I contact3ed support and notified them that if this kind of behavior continues, I will be replacing all of my Roku TVs with Amazon Fire TVs.

Same, this was incredibly intrusive and annoying. The static adds are fine but I will 100% switch if they keep these autopay videos.

well im on board to switch to something else if this continues. 5 Roku 3 are suddenly doing it. cant be wakening people up when i get up not expecting my Roku to suddenly start playing when i wake it up.
that and i don't like adds. especially ones im forced to consume. had to turn off tv to stop it..... home button just laughed at me.

I too contacted support but they didn't understand what I was calling about, so I guess a lot of the agents didn't get a heads up that this was happening - it didn't seem to be something she could find in her repertoire of scripted responses. We're done.

Just got my first one. I'll give it a week or two for them to realize how bad this is... but after that I'm ditching my 4 Rokus.

If you go into the Settings/Accessibility/Auto-Play Video you can disable these auto-play ads. Note that it's done because the federal ADA laws are pretty much mandating this, so don't think this is going to be a Roku-specific issue.

disabling that feature stopped all my previews of content but did not stop the auto video adds on home screen...... that's another problem entirely.
