None of the other posted instructions worked for me. I have an old Roku tv that is mechanically fine but the streaming software has gotten super glitchy despite resets.
****Here's what worked for me:
On the home screen for the Roku Streaming Stick, I went to Settings / Remotes & devices then kept selecting (there was only one option on each subsequent selection) til I got to 'Set up remote for tv control'. I selected that, and now I can use the Roku stick remote for everything, and my tv goes right to the Roku stick home screen.
Finally I can put the tv remote away and not have to change the input every time!
