Roku Select Series TV IR Remote and disabling wifi-direct?

I just bought a Roku Select Series TV (model is 40R2A5R, I believe)... Only to belatedly discover - from many, many other threads out there - that it creates a 5GHz wifi network for the **bleep** remote that shadows the channel my router uses. Two questions:

  1. Does anyone know of a cheapo infrared-only remote that will work with this TV? Or are Roku TVs that come with wifi remotes wifi-only? It does appear to have an IR receiver bump under the screen, but who knows if there's anything in there.

Honestly, I only use the remote to turn it on and off. I don't even use the volume keys, because the TV is just a dumb monitor for a Kodi box. (I guess it would be nice if the IR remote could also work the TV menus, just in case.)

  2. Am I correct in understanding that the only way to get the TV to stop broadcasting on the same 5GHz wifi channel as my router is to pull the back off and unplug the wifi module?
