Roku Not Connecting to Wifi

Hi, my two Rokus won't connect to the wifi. It won't even show my wifi as an option. I've tried restarting both the router and the roku, tried setting up a private network, and even did a factory reset on one of the Rokus. Nothing has worked.

  • RogueRoslynIn nearly all cases, issues like this are connected with WiFi channel congestion so I'd suggest you install WiFi Analyzer for Android or something similar if you use an iPhone. Once you add it, tap the app and view how many others are using the same channel/band then log into the router and choose a channel with less congestion or use. If you are using service provider modem/router, its likely the default 'auto' setting for channel selection is the cause and they rarely if ever choose less congested channels. Hope that helps

I don't know if that's also a problem, but I figured out my wifi is only working on 5ghz instead of 2.4. I'm not sure why though because I have 5ghz disabled.

The Roku device cannot be working on the 5ghz band if you have the 5ghz band disabled.  How did you conclude this?

Go to Settings/Network/About and look the the channel number being used.

        (1-11 = 2.4ghz band)

        (36-48, 149-165, and 52-144 (DFS) = 5ghz band)

Post back with the Roku model numbers (from settings/system/about) as well as the router model number and your ISP (internet service provider).  With some more info, can get a better idea what you are actually seeing.
