Roku device connect to Ipad

Can I buy a Roku stick, plug it into my tv and set it up, then plug it into a standard usb charger, will I be able (using the Roku app) connect to it from my iPad and watch roku content from my iPad?

  • Hi, Pauleduc

Thanks for clarifying your question about connecting the Roku Streaming Stick to your iPad. Just a quick note: the Roku Streaming Stick should be plugged into the HDMI port, and the power cable should either go into the USB port on your TV or be connected to a wall outlet using a charger adapter.

Since Roku sticks are intended to be set up on the TV, and no option to connect them to an iPad using any cables. However, you can use the Roku mobile app to connect your Roku device and your iPad using the same network. Additionally, you can watch the Roku Channel on the website using your iPad without using any Roku device.

    Hey there! Pauleduc

Thanks for your interest in our Roku device. You can plug a Roku Streaming Stick into your TV and power it with a standard USB charger. However, you cannot stream content directly from your iPad to the Roku stick using the Roku app. The app allows for private listening or controlling the Roku device, but it doesn't stream content from the iPad.

    I hope this helps!

Thank you for the reply, but I think you misunderstood my question.

I do not want to stream content from my iPad to the Roku stick.

i am looking to watch the Roku channel on my iPad , and was wondering if I can plug the Roku stick into a charger (not tv) and connect my iPad to it, and then watch Roku channel on my iPad

  • Apparently watching the Roku channel on the web is not supported in Canada.

I have downloaded and installed the Roku app on my iPad     It asks me to connect to my Roku device on the same network as my Roku TV. However, I still cannot use it to watch the Roku channel on my iPad even though it is connected to the Roku TV on the same network.  Is this another regional block?

The requirement to connect the iPad to the same network as the Roku is solely to allow using the Roku app as a control app. Access to The Roku Channel is restricted by geographic location, likely because of the licensing agreements they have with the content owners. However, Roku states TRC is available in Canada. Officially TRC is available in the US, Canada and Great Britain. If you're using a VPN to appear in another location, that would cause TRC to be blocked.
