Philips Roku TV - cannot control volume through remote

Hello, I just purchased a new Philips Roku TV this morning which came with its own Roku remote. I could control everything with the remote but when I play something, the volume comes out blaring loud...

We are having the same exact problem.  We’re having intermittent issues with controlling the volume through the remote and Roku app on our phone.  You can see the numbers change on the screen but the volume doesn’t change. 
We just bought this tv on sale from Walmart a few days ago as well.
