New Roku tv, sound totally sucks

So we purchased a new Roku and the volume totally sucks on it. It's set for automatic and we have tried other settings. Seems that commercials are the loudest in here. We have tried to reset to factory a few times still same old sucky sound, anybody have a solution to this.

  • Hi trm3650,

    Welcome to the Roku Community!

We understand that you are concerned about the Roku TV sound problem and appreciate the troubleshooting steps you have taken so far. We're happy to assist you even more.

    • Do you have any other device/s connected to your TV? (e.g. speakers and another sound system)
    • Is this happening on all contents/channels or is this isolated to 1 content/channel?

How to change the volume modes on a Roku streaming player or Roku TV system

When streaming a movie, TV show, music, or Bluetooth audio you can enable Leveling or Night mode from the Options menu with the steps below. If you are watching content from an external device connected to your Roku TV system, like a Blu-ray player or cable set-top box, switch the active input to the external device.

    1. Start playing the movie, TV show, or other content.
    2. Press the Star on your Roku remote.
    3. Select Volume mode and choose the desired setting.
    • Note: In some streaming channels, Star is assigned a different function meaning it will not open the Options menu as described above. In these cases, you must launch a different channel, such as The Roku Channel, and follow the steps above. Once the volume mode is switched, the setting will remain when you return to the original channel.

Please keep us posted on what you find out.

    Kind regards,
    The Roku Community Team
