My remote won't connect to my Roku stick

Ok so I factory reset my Roku stick because it just wouldn't connect to my wifi or my remote so I couldn't do anything, so when I did factory reset it, it just didn't pair to my remote so now I'm stuck on the language screen

    Disconnect the power from the Stick, wait a bit, plug back in when it comes back to language screen, press and hold the pairing button in the battery compartment for 5 seconds and release, let it communicate with stick. Don't press another key until you see a big DONE on screen.

        Are you using the included usb cable with a bump in it? That is the long-range wireless receiver, it is what the remote communicates with not the stick itself. No original cable, no remote control.
