Can’t cast or control my Roku via my phone
I can no longer cast from my phone. I got a new router and suddenly my devices are useless. First all of my channels went away and not I cannot cast to it or control via the app on my phone.
I have a 4k Roku Streaming stick+
I have done 2 factory resets
I have done many restarts
everything is up to date
It is not on a vpn
I have tried it manually
I have restarted my internet
Is there something I’m missing or have I had it too long and it’s just planned obsolescence? It feels like my Rokus die after 3 years and it’s getting old.
- Hi, ItWontWork. - Welcome to the Roku Community! - We appreciate you reaching out about an issue connecting your phone to the internet. No worries, we're here to help. - There is a Control by mobile apps setting on your Roku device that when disabled, prevents the Roku mobile app and any third-party app from communicating with your Roku device. - You may follow these steps to set: - Press the Home button on your remote
- Scroll and select Settings
- Select System
- Select Advanced System settings
- Select Control by mobile apps
- Select Network Access
- Choose one of three options:
 - Default. This setting is for users who want to use the Roku mobile app or a third-party app to act as a remote and control their Roku device. Most users choose this setting.
- Permissive. For users who want the Roku mobile app or a third-party app to control their Roku device and are on a publicly accessible network. This choice is uncommon and typically used with an advanced network configuration.
- Disable: For users who do not want a third-party app to be able to control their Roku device.

 - When your Roku device is configured to allow Wi-Fi network access (set to Default for most users), it should appear on the Roku mobile app's discovery screen. - If the issue persists, you can also attempt screen mirroring on your streaming device using other devices. Additionally, you can use a mobile hotspot to check for the missing channel on your streaming device. - Furthermore, you may visit this support article on how to connect your phone to a Roku streaming device with the Roku mobile app - We hope you'll find this information helpful.
