Backdrops timeout settings question

I have 5 roku devices,  tcl roku tv, roku ultra 4600x, 4800, 2 4820 , all of are on 14 and updated.

When setting the backdrops,  settings,  select what one's I want to use, set backdrops to start in 30 minutes,  1 minute to change, the settings do not hold and revert to 10 minutes to change., go to the bottom of the app, set this again,  same issue, if I select the star menu  button,  it shows the picture timeout again to 10 minutes again.

I have a screen saver set for 5 minutes and no issues with that.

I don't have an old TV, but I also don't want to get a burnt image either.

I have disabled the backdrops until a fix can be done

    Hi techhead51,

We wanted to provide an update regarding the backdrop picture interval. If you set the interval to 1 minute, it will automatically revert to 10 minutes. This is by design to prevent screen burn-in, particularly on models like the TCL Roku TV.

Roku recommends keeping the 10-minute default for optimal screen protection.

    Thank you for your understanding,

I have a roku ultra and an LG oled TV. I want the settings to change the image duration to 1 minute. But it keeps changing back to 10 minutes, and that is too long. The post reply earlier said that the default was 10 minutes to avoid image retention, but why have settings if they aren't going to stay set where we set them.

Roku should change the default to 1 minute, and perhaps put up a warning if people change it to longer than that.

        Hi MMJax,

        Greetings from the Roku Community!

We appreciate you for sharing your thoughts and concerns with the Backdrops on your Roku device. We value your input and are glad to assist.

Modern OLED TVs have safety guards to prevent OLED burn-in. However, to be extra cautious, Backdrops are designed with additional OLED burn-in protections.

If the panel type is unknown, the image duration is automatically set to rotate after 5 minutes per image.

Note: If your Roku device detects that you frequently set image duration to "Don't change" on your OLED or unknown panel TV, it will show a warning with a QR code linking to this article so you can learn about OLED burn-in risk.

For references, visit our Support article about how to use Backdrops on your Roku streaming devices.

        Thanks,
        Chel
