Roku Camera SD card not detected

Roku just sucks for smart home (fact that you cannot look at what is on the sd card in the app and have to plug it into a computer is pathetic in 2025). What I found is if I boot up the camera with no sd card, push in sd card it then will ask to format. If I reboot after this is fails to get seen again.

  • Hi Dieringer,

We get that the Roku Camera does not recognize your micro SD card. We're here to help.

Let's see if this works for you:

    1. Make sure the Roku Smart Home app and camera firmware are up to date.
    2. Ensure that you're using the suggested size microSD card.
      > FAT-32 format that is 8 GB, 16 GB, or 32 GB.
    3. Reformat the microSD card.
    4. Remove the microSD card, power cycle the camera, then reinsert the microSD card.
    5. Remove the microSD card, factory reset the camera, then reinsert the microSD card.
    6. Check to see if another device (e.g., another camera, computer, etc.) will recognize the microSD card.

Hope this helps, and keep us posted.

    Hi hackztor,

Thank you for letting us know about the Roku Camera not detecting your micro SD card. We are here to help.

Could you please tell us the model of your camera and the type of SD card you have? After rebooting the camera and still doesn’t detect the SD card, try taking the SD card out and putting it back in.

    Looking forward to your response.
