Roku Smart Soundbar Network Issue

Hello, I have a Roku Soundbar device and it has had issue connecting with wifi before and I do not remember how It was resolved. I went through all possible fixes on both device and network side, but It's still not resolved.

I have been using a Roku Ultra device in mean time.

Is there any support that can be given to me? I want to know if this issue can be resolved under warranty or if I can get my device replaced. I purchased the device directly from Roku and have I registered under my email on this account.

If there's no resolving the issue of connectivity to network, can I still use the device for only sound bar?

Thanks

-  Moosa.

  • I would like to know if this not able to connect to wifi since last nights issue, that will not complete and does not connect to my wife any longer. All troubleshooting done, no matter how ridiculous it is.

Can not get to settings if you can not connect to wifi LOL. Signal strength is excellent. And all other devices are connected and working properly. 8 of them are all normal in connectivity.

Go to Settings/System/About and look at model of your Roku Streambar/Soundbar

If you have the 9101, possible that your network is using DFS channels (52-140) which this model does not support. https://support.roku.com/article/21332729601687

Try disabling DFS in your router, if applicable and see if that helps resolve issue.

Post back the Roku model number, your router model number, and any network settings you are using.  Also include any error message numbers you are seeing while connecting.

Have you tried using a mobile hotspot for connection (if available to you)?

      Did you read above?

None of this is the issue. 5 years working perfectly. Next silly tech if the wifi does not connect you can not access settings. Any serious replies?

Nope not the issue, worked fine on 5g for some time. No DFS. Using glofiber fiber optics network.

        Hi! dsranieri62

Thanks for reaching out about your Roku's Wi-Fi issue! It sounds like you're having difficulty connecting and accessing your settings. Just a heads-up, you can still navigate to your settings even without Wi-Fi. Could you please share a quick photo of the home screen and the error code displayed on your TV? That will help us determine our next steps.

Also, can you please tell us what steps you have taken so far to fix this issue? Have you tried unplugging the internet router and plugging it back in after 20 seconds, or a few seconds if you haven't already?

        Keep us posted.

  • I'm starting to think that this DFS is the issue, but I do not have DFS that I can find. But what is interesting my model number is on the list of units that do not work with DFS. Heck, my own service provider glofiber is more responsive, somewhat. Starting to think that roku wants people to move to the newer models "hmm"

The alternative is to simply disable DFS usage in your router (if available and if your culprit), and continue to use the older Roku device.

I have both older and newer Roku devices (some capable of DFS and others not capable).  I do not use DFS although available on one of my routers.  DFS usage can help if you are in a very crowded environment, but unless you really need it due to overcrowding, you will likely get by just fine using non-DFS channels.

DFS will only affect your 5ghz band.  Try verifying that your 2.4ghz band is enabled and working and see if the Roku device can connect to it. (sometimes difficult to do with mesh-type setups).

What is the model number of your router?   (From what I saw, Glofiber either provided users with an Eero or Calix routers for new users).  Both these routers support DFS (depending on model number).  Unless you bought/brought or are using your own router with Glofiber, you should likely have one of the above mesh-centric routers.

This was working fine until last nights or this mornings roku update push.

Can not turn DFS on or off. The router is an Erros Pro 6

Could it be that the streambar just went bad. I mean it recognizes the network signal strength "excellent" just can not connect.. and can not get to home or any other settings.

I believe we bought this 5 years ago could that be an issue, used hard, I understand thermal cycling.

As for the DFS we only stream roku channels, pluto, tubi, SiriusXM keep screen saver off especially when listening to music. So my wife is talking the Bernapoodle large one to the park for play time. Then going to best buy and asking them if they can test it. Can you recommend streambar with wireless sybwoofer and satilite speakers. If I have to buy a new one then so be it.
