It’s not a problem with the YouTube app and it is an easy fix.
Go into your settings -> system -> power-> system restart. Restart your Roku TV, take the batteries out of the remote and put them back in. Should fix the problem, I just did this and it worked for me!

Thank you very much. It just worked for me. Turning equipment off, then turning it back on is usually the first thing I try with everything electronic, but it just didn’t occur to me that the system reset would fix the fast forward issue I was having. I learn something new every day.

That just worked!! Unbelievable. I've been having this issue for a long long time to the point I thought it was always this way? So... decided...wth... I'll Google. This worked where the other tip on the 'net didn't.

That did the trick! Thank you so much. I would have never stumbled across that.

Thanks, me too. So annoying. Good to know a reboot (and maybe a swift kick somewhere, LOL) will do the trick!

Worked for me. As directed, removed batteries when restarted then inserted batteries and it now fast forward in YouTube and YouTube TV.

Thank you so much for the fix! Finally seeing the slider zip across the screen again just made my week!
I haven’t had a chance to let this hypothesis play out to test it, but I’m willing to bet that having Fast TV Start turned on is the real issue here. It’s essentially the same thing as standby vs. restart on a computer. Meaning every time you turn the tv “off”, it’s actually going into standby, so if you only ever turn it “off” with the power button on the remote, you’re never actually restarting the system. That dawned on me when I saw the tv’s boot screen and realized I hadn’t seen that in forever. - Cdubb764 years agoNewbie
