Washed-out colors

Today I connected my Streaming Stick+ to my new LG TV. ALMOST everything displays a gross lack of contrast - virtually no blacks. This includes the Home screen, MAX, PBS, Live TV, HGTV Go, Tubi, and Peacock+ (EXCEPT at least 2 movies; "Wicked" and "John Wick 3"). This seems to be a more severe version of a problem reported several weeks ago and marked as resolved.

    1. I have pressed the Reset button.
    2. This NEVER happened with my old TV, a Panasonic plasma.
    3. I have not intentionally updated my Roku. It indicates the last update was on 4/20/25, and is running v 14.5.4, build 5944.
    4. The first 2 photos below show the washed-out colors of the Roku Home screen and the Peacock screen. The third photo shows the correct colors of a John Wick movie on Peacock.
    5. I’m not sure what you mean by “re-boot.” I have not done a “Factory Reset.” My Roku device is powered by a USB port on my TV, so it is turned off and on every time the TV is – usually once a day.

        Hello Rhea-V

I have discovered the cause of the problem! It involved a setting on my TV. My Roku is now working properly.

LG OLED TVs produce  wonderful pictures, but their "Users Manual" is a joke. It's very disappointing to pay for a complex, top-of-the line device and get virtually no assistance on how to set it up.

        Thanks for your help.

    Welcomebillflyer,

Thanks for flagging wash-out colors on some of the Roku apps. Could you please provide some details about it?

    1. What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?
    2. Is this happening also while using your old TV?
    3. Did you recently update your Roku device?
    4. Please take a video or photo to help us understand the issue better.

In the meantime, try to reboot your Roku device.

    I'll wait for your response.
