The Voice live on NBC and receiving local TV stations other than just the local news

If I want to watch The Voice or any other shows on NBC (Portland, OR), how do I do that?  Use an antenna?  Subscribe to a subscription?  I did purchase an antenna and my son hooked it up, but he said it didn't sync or work.  It is a RCA Amplified indoor HDTV Antenna, 45 mile range.  I live in the suburbs of Portland, Oreong.  Any suggestions?  I just want to watch live TV on NBC and need to know how to go about that.  Also, what are credits?  I tried to watch current episode of The Voice and it says I have 3 credits to use or save.  Thanks for any input, everyone.

If you are using a Roku device connected to your TV via HDMI (as opposed to a RokuTV that has an integrated/built-in Roku OS), then try using an antenna connected to the back of your TV.

Use your TV remote (not the Roku remote) to cycle through and select the Antenna Input on your TV and see if your locals are present.  You may need to scan for channels through the TV settings (not the Roku settings).
