Indeed, obnoxious.
Here’s how I turned it off on my Roku:
A) Go to wallpapers and screensavers
B) Scroll way down to advanced settings, sponsored wallpapers.
C) Scroll way down to advanced settings, sponsored wallpapers.
D) Click on sponsored wallpapers and select “off“
