Sling TV Says New App Version Available but it won't load

I have followed the instructions:

  1. Press the Home button on your Roku remote.
  2. Scroll up or down and select Settings.
  3. Select System.
  4. Select System update.
  5. Select Check Now to manually check for updates.
  6. Restart your Roku device through Settings > System > Power > Power > System restart.

But I go to Sling again, either from the menu or the button on my remote and it still displays the same message.  New App Version Available ...

    Thanks for the post.

    It looks like your following the steps to check for software update on the Roku device, rather than checking for a channel update.

    From the Home screen, try selecting the Sling channel and pressing the * button and choosing Check for updates.

      Thank you for your reply.  This was a new version of SLING that was available, it wasn't just adding another channel.  The instructions that I followed were the instructions included in the error message.  But the issue has been resolve.  SLING does work now.

      I have this same problem with the Amazon Prime app and the Frndly tv app.  However, I have followed the correct instructions to update the channel/app, and I receive a message then that says the app is up to date.  Unfortunately, I go back to the channel/app, and I get the same "new version available" message.  I have even removed the app and re-added it with no impact whatsoever.

  • had the same issue with Sling app.  followed his advice and did the system update.  after restarting, problem solved.  thank you very much.
