Kathiell ... try disabling the bandwidth saver (settings-network-bandwidth saver)AND the Screensaver Start Time (found in settings-theme-theme packs, scroll down) that seems to have helped me (unless it's actually an automatic update that fixed my problem) ... I use a streaming device not the tv but you never know! Might help you too! GL

Just hooked up my Roku Streambar
Issue in every app. DirecTV, Paramount+, and the usual others
All updates done.
I’ve done everything suggested by moderators (restart, delete/reinstall, check WiFi, etc.).
NOTHING fixes issue.

the problem is not with “playback” if you had followed the thread you would know that the problem is Roku returning you to the Home Screen randomly while you are trying to enjoy the service you paid your hard earned money for.
I am sure you would be hailed as a hero if you had a solution other than the old talking points IE. Unplug, reset, update, replace batteries bla bla bla

I have tried all the suggestions I’ve seen listed including the factory reset. It’s gotten to the point that I can’t get through any show without being kicked back to the Home Screen.

I have a Roku Quad HD, and mine is also kicking me back to the Home Screen. But sometimes the Home Screen is black with no tiles or background but the menu is on the left side of the screen . When that happens the only fix is to scroll the menu to system restart and then the normal Home Screen comes back.

I disconnected the Roku for more than 30sec. I am still having the same problem for only two of my apps, not others. I just added my streaming info to a new tv that isn’t ROKU, does that have something to do with it?

They do that in all threads It is Roku talking points. It's all your fault and all you need to do is change batteries , Reset your device, Update your apps, Press the Home button on your remote 5 times, then press Up and press down and press all around and then send them the results. And then they will come back with another excuse like your wifi is congested and run you around the rosie again. I think it's all a game

It was doing the same to me, sending me to somewhere elses other than what I was trying to watch. As I posted before in this topic, it was the Roku (radio wave) remote. Radio interference was making my Ultra -think- I was pushing a button or buttons on the remote. The solution I found was to switch to a "simple IR" remote and unpair the rf-remote. Then the ghost button pushes stopped and have not returned so far.

The problem this thread is about is when you are watching any one of a number of apps you are periodically returned to the Roku Home Screen and you have to start watching your app all over again.

We have followed all above mentioned problem solving steps each night and have excellent internet and we continue to be kicked out of apps after 30 seconds. We are ready to get rid of all Roku devices if there is no help. Please help!

1. Are there thousands of people having the same problem ? ....... Answer: Yes
2. Do those thousands have hundreds of different model devices the problem occurs on ?.... Answer: Yes
3. Have all these people Updated every imaginal device and software ?..... Answer : Yes
4. Have they all unplugged, Installed and Reinstalled there devices and apps ?....Answer: Yes
5. What is the one thing that all these people have in common besides the problem ? Answer: Roku devices.
6. What can you do to solve the problem ? Get rid of the common denominator and get another streaming device. Problem solved.

I wouldn't poke my nose into this subject either if I represented Roku. Or maybe they are helping hundreds of other customers waste their time updating, emptying cache, removing channels , re-installing channels and all the other malarkey they propose. The only real cure is to remove Roku and get a device that works....

Replace batteries in your remote
Remove and reinstall all your apps
Update Roku and or your TV's software
Hit the home button five times then the up arrow six times then while holding the microphone button say Update remote three times. Release the microphone button and open the battery compartment.
Remove the batteries and set aside ( you will need them later )
Open the window and throw the remote as far as you can and then use the batteries in your new apple fire stick
See now wasn't that easy ??
