Newsmax to end Free Streams. Don't Blame Roku

On November 1, 2023, looks like Newsmax will be going behind a paywall.  They will end their free streams on the various streaming LiveTV services like Roku and others.

You can sign up for Newsmax+ for a free trial to continue watching on mobile/streaming devices through a standalone app.

They will apparently offer Newsmax2 (N2) for streaming LiveTV that will include some headlines and some shows for now during the transition.

This was something they bandied about during the DirectTV conflict and looks like they went through with it.  It is mentioned in the above articles that this paywall decision is due to a new agreement with the cable companies that Newsmax can no longer be offered for free.

I actually bounce between Newsmax and Real Americas Voice (RAV), so looks like RAV will remain my primary channel for news. (available both via standalone channel/app and on LiveTV on Roku Channel and Pluto).

open newsmax app in roku scroll all the way left then down and click on account then login

    To bad I can’t afford it plus news should never charge this makes me think Newsmax is no better then the left news now

    Not paying. These paywalls nickel and dime you to death and it's no better than the costs associated with cable subscriptions.  I switched from Fox News to Newsmax because of my disgust with Fox and the fact Newsmax was free streaming.  I do plan to cut my cable subscription very soon when my contract ends. Their rates are atrocious.  Now that Newsmax is behind a paywall, I'm done with them too.  So nice of Newsmax to just "spring" the change on viewers without much notice or explanation....Thanks for the alternative choices.  I will give them a try.  Maybe I'll just keep my TV off most of the day and limit my news consumption all together to just an hour a day and watch some local news which I've not done.  It's all quite stressful anyway. DUMB MOVE NEWSMAX! Buh bye!

    so we get to pay new max so they can show us their many,many commercials and mini infomercials????

    Goodbye Newsmax! I am sure I will miss it but I am a senior on a budget. I cannot afford to pay for all these ala carte services. I have to limit myself to a single choice which for now is Paramount plus after ditching Hulu 6 months ago... I think they are making a big mistake especially after all those ads over the years boasting there was no pay wall. It is actually likely to harm conservative politics too as they will have fewer viewers and nobody on the far left is likely to try it out in passing or out of curiosity. it is too late now, but tell Chris Ruddy he made a big mistake..! I can't stomach Fox after all the changes. William look to see what other conservative news apps that are still free out there.

    I cut the cable to save money. now they want 50 a year no thanks go back to Fox since I already pay for youtube tv not gona pay for NewMax BYE BYE

    Wow no notices, no warnings, and a no go for me to pay to watch news with so many ads. Thanks for the RAV reference it looks how newsmax use to be over a year ago.

    Not so much of the 2 minute rapid fire questions without a broadening conversation with guest that are plugging there book of the week. Over the last 6 months newsmax has just become more of hourly echo chamber news with no new info and the vague news ticker tape at the bottom that is nothing more than fragmented thoughts.

    Not Paying for it.  I'll watch something else.  I have the Newsmax APP on my Roku. Now what??

      I've been gradually watching RAV, REAL AMERICA'S VOICE for awhile and less of Newsmax and honestly I think it's much better.  Their programs contain longer interviews with less interruptions from the hosts and better indepth coverage of events during the day.

      I agree. While Newsmax is good, I will not pay $5.00 per month to watch it. Too many orther news scources.
