Google Photo View on Roku

Is anyone still able to successfully use Photo View on any Roku streaming device?

I know this app has lots of issues recently.  I'm trying to find anyone that is still able to use the app and what Roku device you have so I know which one to purchase. I am elderly with vision problems and REALLY use this app to show and view my beloved photos. Thank you.

  • Hi rbwksf,

We understand you're having a problem with the Photoview.

After attempting the troubleshooting steps, we suggest that you contact the app provider directly. Apps on Roku are maintained by their own developers.

I also can no longer get PhotoView to work.  Six or more months ago I was getting error 429.  I gave up then.

I tried recently again but had to re-link the account.  I have tried that several times.  It always says the link was successful.  But, I know get this error:

"Error occurred in "onStoreUser' code 401. Rquestd URL returned error code 401"

An HTTP 401 error is "Unauthorized".  Goole says PhotoView has access to the Google Photos.  PhtoView says the link was successful.

Let me know if you need other info.  I would really like this app to work agagin - I use it at a church to display member photos.

    Thanks

  • Chris Taylor, the developer of Photo View should have enough respect for his users to either fix the app or take it down. Roku should have enough respect for its users to remove it from their app library. This has gone on long enough.

  • I purchased a new Roku and still the app doesn't work. Very disappointed.

Looks like the Photo View app isn’t working on your new Roku device. Do you see any error when you try to open it, or can you tell us more about the issue you’re running into?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Hi there! BFGJanieB

    Just a heads-up:
Most Roku devices can work with Google Photo View, but they also come with built-in options like Roku Backdrops and Roku Photo Streams, which do have the same purpose.

    Hope this info helps!

Those don't work either. My Roku stick was purchased in 2021. I think it's time for a new one. Thanks!
