Fox news broadcast interrupted

Randomly, when usually watching a Fox News broadcast on my Roku device, the broadcast is interrupted by an Asian woman crocheting a small object. The original video never resumes, and this interruption does not have a countdown timer such as how valid commercials do.

This seems like illegal hacking to me!

This has been going on for quite awhile.  Those Youtube channels are usually just broadcasting an unlicensed stream of Fox (and others).  Then a little box will appear (usually asian or india themed).

It is an attempt to circumvent/confuse the AI copyright checks and fair-use exceptions to the Youtube policies.  (normally these are livestreams and deleted upon completion).

The chinese knitting lady has been around since at least 2021 or so.  When a channel gets closed down, it will reappear under a different one. (three strikes per channel so just rides out the strikes and starts another).  It's not really one person.  It is a bunch of people and they just use the knitting video they downloaded from somewhere.

Another popular one that used to circulate had a couple of cats in the streamer's box  window.

Me too.  Very concerned about Asian women interrupting FOX NEWS for months.  Advertisers pay ,,,$$$$$$ and what is her purpose.  Also same picture of President Trump showing him instead of actual news.  What is going on?????PLEASE RESPOND.  ALSO. Fox news on You Tube.

As Strega indicated, you are not watching a legally streamed Fox broadcast.  The best thing is to use the Fox news app or stream from a legitimate channel on Youtube.

      Hi, 8633

      Welcome to the Roku Community.

As advised by our Roku Community experts in this thread, you are streaming an unlicensed broadcasting stream of Fox News.

If you want to stream a licensed and proper broadcasting of Fox News, you can download the app on Roku and subscribe to their app.

For more information, you can visit their official page at Fox News - Breaking News Updates | Latest News Headlines

We hope this helps, and let us know if you have further concerns or inquries.

      Thanks,
      Kash

  • For several months this problem seemed to have gone away, but now it's back.  Over the past few days the knitting lady has shown up a couple of times, and now there's a new one.  We see a Middle-Eastern or Mehrabian looking dude sitting at a laptop on a table.  It looks and sounds as if he's reading something aloud from the screen, but he's a low talker and seems to mumble so I can't even tell what language he's speaking.  It sounds like it might be French, which is why I said Mehrabian, i.e. someone who hails from western Mediterranean Africa historically controlled by France and where French is still used by millions of people today.

You could report it to whoever's content is being stolen. I doubt youtube acknowledges DMCA take downs from third-parties, so it would have to be the content owner that takes it down.

I supposes there is a small risk that you will be admitting to watching the content. Maybe mask your identity if you're worried, but I suspect that they won't go after someone who reports it.

Reporting it to YouTube is more effective than you think as they are concerned about liability issues if they don't take it down quickly.  I would recommend reporting it.

I have never seen the knitting Lady, but I've seen a little girl doing (presumably) homework. In same instance there is a woman working in the kitchen and a man sitting in a straight backed chair that is against the wall.

This doesn't seem like some content to me. It's more like I'm viewing some people in their homes just doing daily life things.  I've seen a couple guys shopping in a mall, I've seen what looks like a guy working on his computer.  I've seen little girls coloring in a coloring book.  Not riveting content by any means.  More like an invasion of people's privacy.  It's too creepy.  How can I make it stop??

Moonbaby62 Those videos are ways to avoid censoring the channels because they are basically pirating or illegally providing those programs and as a way to earn income from the broadcast.  I recommend reporting it directly to Youtube and they will remove it, eventually at least.

The answer is to report it to Youtube directly as that is not an authorized Fox news channel broadcast.
