Channel auto exit without warning

FOX News and ABC news channels exit without warning and return to home menu. Also when any channels are paused when hitting play or ok from screen saver, screen returns to a channel never watched. My ROKU frequently loose voice to video sync and when resetting ROKU device may freeze and has to be unplugged.

    Hi, Yogitech1

Greetings, and welcome to the Roku Community.

We appreciate you for letting us know about the issue you have encountered with FOX News and the ABC News app that exit without warning, and we're here to provide you with troubleshooting steps that you can perform to resolve the issue. Kindly follow the steps below.

    1. Navigate to the channel tile on the Roku home screen, press the star (*) key on your remote, and choose "Remove channel".
    2. Next, restart your device from Settings > System > Power > System Restart (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step).
    3. Once your player/TV starts up again, go to "Streaming Store" on the Home screen, and add the channel back once more.
    4. You may also refer to this link: How to resolve a channel playback issue | Official Roku Support
If the issue persists after performing the provided troubleshooting step, it is advisable to contact the channel provider's support team directly for further assistance. They may offer a potential workaround or indicate whether an update to their application on the Roku platform is required. It is important to note that the majority of channels available on Roku are developed and maintained by the respective channel providers.

We hope you find this information useful, and feel free to reach out to us if you have further concerns or inquiries.

    Best wishes,
    Kash
  • Some screen savers (including the default screen saver) have advertising. I think if you look closely, you'll see a floating legend that indicates you can install the advertised channel by pressing play or OK. So, either learn to exit screen savers with other buttons or use screensavers without ads. I use the Roku digital clock screen saver which is ad-free. (You could also consider changing your screen-saver time-out so you see it less frequently, especially if you don't have a screen technology that is susceptible to bu rn-in. Weirdly, bu rn without the space is not allowed in this forum. 😀)
