    An additional troubleshooting step that might help is to ensure that the YouTube app is up-to-date. You can check this by highlighting the app and pressing the Star (*) button on your remote. There, you will see an option to check for updates.

The black screen issue in my case was caused by the automatic 4k Dolby Vision option in display settings. I selected regular 4k tv and picture is working again on Youtube.

    This also worked for me. Was having all videos show up with a black screen but audio was working fine and menus were showing up normally. Changed that in the Roku settings and videos are working again. Thank you.

    Same here, but I went from 1080p TV to 720p TV which is the resolution of my tv and the same video settings (quality) that YouTube selected on the app itself.

    Solution, go to: Settings > Display Type > 720p TV (your tv resolution)
