Suggestions for Media Player

Hi! I have used Media Player for years and have noticed that some features need updating, fixing, or improvement. I never use the pictures, so I have no feedback for this feature. This app has not received any love from development in quite some time, as its interface has remained unchanged. Poor little app. And with all the free audio now playing commercials, it's nice to listen to my MP3 library when I need just music.

Please consider my suggestions in the continued progress of Roku's operating system.

General

1. The overall interface is functional, but it could use a glow-up. Poor little app has looked the same since software version 1.0!
2. Remove the ALL option. Every time I use this option, I know that the app will eventually lock up, and I will have to force a reboot by unplugging my soundbar. I think the Roku gets confused or something when this is selected and even thought the files are correct, it eventually is internally screaming, "WHAT IS THIS FILE, HOOMAN!?!?!?!?" 

Video

1. It would be helpful if more video formats were supported. Because it is so limited and so specific, many videos in my library cause the app to lock up the entire system. I can't get out of it unless I unplug my soundbar, unplug the external hard drive, and then plug the soundbar back in. Then plug the drive back in once I reach the home screen. "Just don't play those files," you say. That would be a reasonable response, I agree, but I forget. I have a lot of movies. And having to do this surely can't be good for the Roku OS!
2. It would be nice if it read the .srt file for subtitles, but that's a make/break thing. Just a nicety.
3. It would be nice to be able to press and hold or single-press the forward and back buttons to skip forward or back a video, especially when watching a series, binge-watching movies (think Star Wars or Resident Evil movies), or if I have a movie that's in parts. The fast-forward and fast-rewind features are still needed, so please do not remove them.

Audio

1. I leave Shuffle on for music, but the Media Player never—everrrrrrrrrr—shuffles. It doesn't matter whether I start playing by selecting a folder or an MP3 from within a folder; it has never worked. I'd like this to be functional.
2. There's an option for screensaver. It's always set to on, but it doesn't actually do anything. I've tried turning it off and then back on - it does nothing. Nada. Not a thing. It doesn't even display the Roku-selected screensaver when audio is playing. If it's on, a beat based visual would be fun. But if that's not possible, how about removing it, as it serves no purpose?
3. It would be nice to press and hold the forward and back buttons to skip forward or back a song. Or single press. The fast-forward and fast-rewind features are still necessary for audio, so please do not remove them.
4. Repeat should be changed to on, off, this file only. Sometimes, one really needs to listen to 'Bones' by Imagine Dragons on repeat a couple of times!!
