What other streaming devices have this feature?

I can stream from YouTube and change speed, any video at all on my PC I can change speed.
So clearly this is possible.
I really do watch more on my phone or PC now because of it.
Even TikTok now allows you to change speed of videos you watch.
So Roku not having this is 100% behind the times that is for sure.

This is something that Roku isn't going to be able to add that'll be compatible across all the apps, this is a function that the individual app developers are going to have to add to their app if the deem it.

They could at minimum add it to there own Roku Media Player APP, I think that is the point most people are making.

I think Roku should do an effort to add variable speed to the Roku Media Player. Roku's community made that demand a long, long time ago, but it has not been addressed. I would like to watch certain action scenes in slow motion. If the Media Player programmer cannot do it, maybe he should consult the programmers of VLC player. Or Roku system should allow the installation of VLC player.

I would like to +1 this for media player. My western digial live media player from 10+ years ago could play media at 2x, 4x, 8x speed. The 2x speed was a nice feature.

I have a large screen with ROKU on it and I usually end up watching on my smaller PC screen because I can speed up programs that, to my mind at least, probably could have been a movie but they stretched them out to be a series! Some movies even could easily be an hour long and they are 2. Also other things I like to watch which are documentaries, and these are not losing anything by speeding them up so I can get the information quicker. I think if ROKU itself made playback speed part of their player other apps would follow suit.
In short - for me at least, I am now hardly ever using ROKU because I can increase the speed on my PC and I cannot change the speed on ROKU - Even Netflix does not have a speed adjust when watching on a TV - only on a PC and even then only up to 1.5x - I use a browser app to speed it up to 1.75, or 2x when I need it.
ROKU need to put pressure on other apps to include speed adjust - they are losing customers.
