Roku App launches incorrectly. Roku App freezes.
I read similar problems but this is a bit different so I am posting a new thread. I am noticing two problems with the Roku App. First, often times when I initially launch the Roku App it will open to a plane Roku logo and freezes or to an error screen stating there was an issue with the connection and provides two options, to ‘use the remote’ or to ‘retry’ as well as the normal tabs at the bottom of the app screen for ‘home, remote, etc.’ None of these function, the app responds to nothing. So I can then close the app and relaunch it and it will begin to function. Second, the Roku App will often freeze completely if I navigate away from the application, forcing me to close and relaunch the App for it to function. These issues only recently began to occur beginning a few weeks ago and continue to persist. If it helps, I use the iPhone 16 Pro and a Roku Express 4k+ The ‘Associated Products’ list on this form is not working properly.570Views1like8CommentsRoku app on iOS phone constantly dropping connection to tv

I just bought a new Roku Express 4K and nothing could connect to it. Couldn't see it on the network at all in AirPlay, HomeKit, or Roku App. After several hours it finally showed up in the app and AirPlay. Still cannot connect it to HomeKit. AirPlay asks for a code that doesn't work. Tried it on several iOS and macOS devices all same problem - just prompts for the code over and over again without connecting. Tried "First time" "Every time" and "Password" modes and they all fail the same way. Many posts on these boards refer to the same problem and somebody from the Roku team has unhelpfully linked to the "How to connect to AirPlay and HomeKit" support article then marked it as solved without solving the problem. I have followed the directions in the support article. It does not address this issue.682Views0likes2CommentsRoku app just doesn't work
This problem started earlier this week. On my Roku app when using private listening the audio sounds choppy and randomly cuts out and the app won't connect to my devices that are on the same network unless I restart my phone and immediately open the Roku app. The TV works fine, the headphones work fine, my phone works fine, this problem is the app. And while using the YouTube app, ads will stop and not play and it's only on the YouTube app the audio issues happen2.3KViews0likes5CommentsRoku device not connecting to mobile app
I have an iPhone 13 on iOS 17.7 and a Roku Express 4K+ connected to my Samsung TV. My Roku app somehow disconnected from the device and simply refuses to reconnect over WiFi or via IP address. It tells me when I try that method that “A Roku device was not found at this IP address.” This issue happened suddenly for me a few months ago, for the first time in over 2 years of owning the Roku device, but I since lost the solution I had found for it at the time (I recall it being in my phone settings, where I turned a setting I had never heard of off and on again). Nothing regarding my internet service has changed since then. I can confirm that the Roku device and my iPhone are on the same network; I have the Local Network setting enabled in my iPhone settings and the Control by mobile apps setting in the Roku set to Default; I have restarted both the Roku device (also unplugged it and plugged back in) and my phone; I have reinstalled the app on my phone; and all my software is up to date. NOTHING is working to fix this. It is most certainly not an issue with my router. I am at a loss for why this is happening and need creative solutions, as none of the responses to similar posts in this forum have been helpful. I can provide serial numbers etc. if necessary. It is upsetting how common a problem this seems to be for Roku users, and I hope it gets resolved if its cause is internal.984Views0likes2CommentsNo AirPlay or Chromecast on the Roku mobile app
I'm able to AirPlay a video from the Roku Channel website via Safari browser on iphone or ipad to any compatible streaming device, Roku or non-Roku, like Apple TV device. To do so, I just swipe down the Notifications screen from the top (ipad or iphone) and then tap the AirDrop/AirPlay icon from Safari's Now Playing control. I have a screenshot showing proof, but I'm unable to upload it yet here. I have now uploaded screenshots successfully. I still wonder why the Roku mobile app omits AirPlay or Chromecast features from its own video player. The Roku website apparently hasn't done that yet.421Views0likes0CommentsAGAIN Roku app cannot find IP address of Roku Express
UPDATE TO ORIGINAL POST: I thought I had found a solution to this problem by turning off the privacy settings on my iPhone WiFi settings. This stopped working pretty quickly. Then the app started working randomly again for a few days, without having to change any iOS settings! Unfortunately, the situation has now reverted to not being able to connect. I have confirmed that the app works with Roku’s at other houses. My internet provider says the issue is not theirs. Does Roku have a solution yet? My roommates and I have been using the Roku app as a remote for our Roku Express specifically because of the ability to play audio through headphones and not disturb each other. It was working for months, but in the past few weeks the app would randomly drop the connection then have to reconnect. Today, the app could not connect to the device at all. I have restarted the app and the device, checked the WiFi setting, and even factory reset the device. The phone and the device are linked to the same WiFi, the IP addresses are both 192.168.1.XX. No VPNs are involved. The connection on the Roku device says it is excellent. When I try to connect manually with the IP address, the app says there is no device found there. I am inputting the correct address, as I am copying it directly from the “About” section from my TV screen. Control by mobile apps on the device is set to default. The WiFi is Spectrum. We only have one network available, and we cannot even access the Access Point settings. The phones have local network access enabled for the app. We have tried with multiple phones, all iPhones running the latest iOS, so we believe it is a problem with our device or the app, not the phones. We have gone through every step given by Roku’s troubleshooting guide, and nothing has changed.Solved4.9KViews1like8CommentsNo remote/ disconnected for unknown reason?
I have 2 Roku devices. One in my bedroom, one in the living room. I used my bedroom roku this morning and when I came back from work, it stopped working. My app lists it under ‘previously used devices.’ I’ve done what I’ve read in similar questions. I’ve unplugged it. I’ve checked the wifi( I know this is fine because my Roku in the living room is discoverable and still working.) I can’t hold the reset button on the device because I lost the physical remote and have been using my remote. is there anything else I can try? Thank you!! (Roku stick)1.4KViews0likes3Comments
