Cannot find network after power cut

Hi. Roku 3920x streamer.  It was working fine until we had a power cut lasting only seconds.  Now, it will not connect.  It does not even see our wireless network despite being only six feet away from the router.  It will find other networks.  We have tried moving the device, and making sure there is nothing to interfere with the signal, but no joy.  We have restarted both the device and the router.

Our Roku TV, which was on standby at the time, retained its connection.

The device is only three months old.

What can we do to connect?

    Thank you all.  It is nice to have an explanation as to why the device cannot see the router.  Unfortunately I am now concerned that this problem may recur the next time we have a power cut.  So, we will learn to live without the Roku.

  • It may very well indeed be the router changed channels.

    If you folks can access and adjust your WiFi routers, then try forcing it to use 2.4 GHz channels 1, 6, or 11, instead of auto.

    Worth a shot...

    Worked for me after a recent T-Storm outage on my (2) 3910's and (1) 3710. My Laptop saw the router fine through it all. **bleep** channel was 10, after power cycling the Router again, it switched to Channel 1 and everything worked well again.

    If you have a connection, the Roku will tell you what channel it is using by going to Settings/Network/About. the channel it's on will show up in the info list toward the bottom.

    Your router's Wi-Fi channel is probably set to "Auto" and it switched to an unsupported channel.  Ensure that the 2.4GHz band is enabled and it's set to a channel from 1 to 11.

      Thanks, I'll have to dig out any paperwork for the router to see if I can figure out how to change the channel.

        Focus on ensuring 2.4 GHz band is on first.

    Here's what has worked for me.

    • Restart your router (even if other devices have no problem finding and connecting). Sometimes that's all it takes, if not keep going.
    • Restart the Roku to clear its memory via Settings > System > System restart (for a Roku TV it's Settings > System > Power > System restart). Again sometimes that's all it takes, if not keep going.
    • Find and connect to your network via Settings> Network > Set up connection

    If that doesn't fix it, try disconnecting the power to your Roku for a few seconds.  When it comes back up, see if you then can set up the network connection.

        This isn't really a Roku issue, and could easily arise elsewhere. Allow me to explain.

        There are many many many devices that are 2.4 GHz only. Many many smart appliances operate on 2.4 GHz only. If you ever decide to add any that are 2.4 GHz only, they will be the same as the cheaper Roku devices (such as the one you have). Smart devices that operate on dual band (like the better Roku devices) will be fine.

        If your network is not restoring the 2.4 GHz band following a power outage, that may be indicative of either: 1) improper setup, or 2) a device going bad. I'd suggest the second explanation may be the one.

        Just offering out this bit of info for your consideration.
