Black screen & can't do anything with Roku Express 4K+ or DirecTV remote

Trying to cord cut from DirecTV to Sling with Roku device and wireless setup. My Samsung TV screen went black. Now can't do anything. Roku light flashes blue. Unplugged TV cable from TV and wall outlet. Waited 30 seconds and replugged with no change. What do I do now? There are other issues, but I don't know if they're related to black screen. Thinking I need to fix black screen first.

Hi @Jlh3

Thanks for reaching out to the Roku Community.

If you are having an issue with no picture on your TV, follow the steps below:

  • You have the wrong input (source) selected on your TV: You must select the input (sometimes referred to as source) that matches the one to which you have the Roku player connected.
  • The video cable is not connected properly or the cable is faulty: Check that the video cable is firmly connected to the back of your Roku player and to the HDMI or composite connector on the TV
    • If you can, check to see if you have a faulty cable by connecting your Roku player with a different cable.
  • There is a problem with the TV: If you can, try connecting the Roku player to a different input on the TV to see if the problem is with the connector on the TV.
    • If you can, try connecting the Roku player to a different television to see if the problem is with your Roku player or the TV.
  • If all else fails… Disconnect and reconnect all cables including the power cable.

For full details about this, you may refer to this link: What to do if you cannot see the picture from your Roku® streaming player on your TV

Still no luck? Keep us posted on the steps you took along with the serial number of your Roku device so we can assist you further. Each Roku player and Roku audio device has its serial number or device ID printed on the bottom or back of the product.

Keep us posted.

Regards,
Nimfa
