Roku Community Guidelines

Welcome to the Roku Community!

We’re so glad you’re here. Whether you’re a streaming newbie or a seasoned pro, this is your space to connect, share tips, ask questions, and celebrate all things streaming. Our goal is to create a welcoming, safe, and fun environment where everyone can enjoy the conversation.

To keep things running smoothly, we’ve outlined a few simple guidelines to make sure the Community remains a positive and helpful space for all. By participating in the Roku Community, you agree to follow these guidelines as well as the Roku Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

Be kind and respectful

We’re all here because we love streaming, so let’s keep the vibe positive! Treat everyone with respect, even if you disagree. Personal attacks, harassment, hate speech, trolling, or any form of abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

Keep it appropriate

This is a space for friendly and constructive conversations. Please avoid posting or discussing NSFW (“not safe for work”) content, including anything violent, explicit, or otherwise inappropriate. Discussions about searching for NSFW content are also prohibited and will be removed. Let’s keep the Community welcoming and professional for everyone.

Stay on topic

We love a good conversation, but let’s keep discussions focused on Roku products, services, and streaming-related topics. Please avoid discussing multiple issues within a single topic. For example, do not post a Roku TV-specific issue on a topic for a Roku Player-specific issue. When replying to a topic, respond only to the issue or question at hand.

Posts that are purely political in nature or unrelated to Roku products and services may be removed at our discretion. This helps ensure the Community remains focused and welcoming for all members.

If a topic thread is more than six months old, please start a new topic instead of posting on an outdated thread. As we release new updates, older threads may no longer be relevant and could convolute current issues being reported.

Protect privacy

Your privacy matters. Never share personal, sensitive, or financial information (like passwords, payment details, or addresses) in the Community. This applies to your own information and others’. Posts containing such information will be removed.

No spam or self-promotion

Please don’t post advertisements, promotions, or links to unrelated products or services. Roku developers may share updates about their apps, but blatant self-promotion is not allowed.

No piracy, hacking, or illegal activity

Discussions about piracy, hacking, rooting, or circumventing regional restrictions (e.g., VPNs) are not allowed. Sharing links to pirated content, malware, or anything illegal will result in immediate removal and potential loss of Community access. Discussions of rooting or hacking a Roku device are strictly prohibited and will result in loss of access to the Community.

Use one account

Please stick to one account per person. Creating multiple accounts to spam, troll, or evade moderation is not allowed and may result in a ban.

Search before posting

Before starting a new thread, use the search bar to see if your question has already been answered. Duplicate threads make it harder for others to find helpful solutions. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, feel free to start a new conversation!

Celebrate each other

We love hearing about your streaming wins! Whether you’ve discovered a hidden gem on The Roku Channel or set up your first Roku device, share your excitement with the Community. Let’s celebrate together!

Moderation and reporting

Our moderators are here to keep the Community safe and fun. Moderators may, at their discretion, edit posts for readability and clarity or to remove personal information. Roku reserves the right to remove any content at its discretion. If you see something that doesn’t follow these guidelines, use the “Report” button to let us know. Moderation decisions are final, and we ask that you don’t repost or discuss removed content.

Usernames and profiles

Roku employees and moderators will identify themselves in the Community by using the Roku logo as their avatar image in their user profile. The use of any Roku logo, name, or trademark by a non-employee in an avatar or username is not allowed. Please do not use any inappropriate or offensive language or information in your username or profile.

Follow the law and respect copyright

Only share content you have the legal right to post. Discussions about legal action against Roku or its partners are not allowed. If you spot an app violating copyright laws, please report it directly to our team.

Have fun!

At the end of the day, this Community is about enjoying the world of streaming together. Be curious, be helpful, and most importantly, have fun!
