Agreed. As YouTube TV is what I primarily use my Roku for at this moment, I'll have to swap over to something else while they fight it out.
The email seemed odd though as it lists "cost you more" as a thing, I'm guessing they aren't going to be charging Roku users more than other platforms. I never use Roku's search function so I'm not sure what they're going on about there.
Anyone have any advice for those of us that aren't as tech-savvy? I have a Roku TV, and mostly use YouTube TV - if Roku decides to drop the service, would I be forced to get a new TV? Or can I buy something to make YouTube TV available again? Would appreciate any help, I'm not super great with technology!
I saw someone in another thread mention that they had actually contacted Google customer support and that the rep had no idea about the supposed removal of the service from the platform. They also mentioned that the email the notice came from was a little suspicious and not the email that notifications usually come from, and after double checking, that seems to be the case. Keeping my fingers crossed that this is all just a misunderstanding.
You can add ChromeCast or a Apple FireStick to one of your HDMI ports. So no, you do not have to buy a new TV.
As I mentioned, I already have ChromeCast on one of the RokuTV's only so I can stream live concerts from my Chromebook when not available on YouTube which I may assume will get cut along with YouTube TV.
I'm trying to understand how I've managed to get by in life without YouTube TV, as so many of you can't function without it.
I can use Sling TV, Vidgo, Hulu With Live TV, or any number of other live streaming services -- if I have the need of a live streaming service at all. I don't. I wonder what it is I'm missing here. I watch network TV shows via Hulu ($6/month) the next morning, if I want (just like DVR). I can watch live local TV via antenna, and record it via Tablo if I want. And watch any number of other things, many for free. I've managed to not give them $65/month.
And here I thought my life was fulfilled.
