Hi @letti001,
Welcome to the Roku Community!
We are here to assist you with your concern about the YouTube TV channel playing previously played content upon launching the channel. No worries, we are here to look closely into this issue.
We would like to know if this happens every time you open the YouTube TV channel, especially when the TV is turned off overnight. In the meantime, we suggest you try the following.
Restart your Roku device:
You can also try to remove and re-add the app. If the issue persists, please let us know.
We look forward to your update.
Cheers,
The Roku Community Team
You need to read the thread (including the posts from other Roku personnel) as well as inform yourself about RokuOS functionality before posting misleading/irrelevant/inapplicable "help" if you wish to provide effective CS: this is an intended behavior/function of the YT/YTTV app versions/builds for the 4850 as they have support for Instant Resume.
Rude.
After reading these posts I think that the issue is that there is a new feature with the Roku 2024.
Whether it was implemented by YouTube TV or Roku, I am not sure.
It is called "Instant Resume"
If watching a show on YTTV and then hitting the Roku Home button, the show stops, and the time is marked.
Once Roku and then YTTV are opened again, then the previous show is instantly popped up again.
The video link given in a previous thread shows and example of Roku with Tubi. The re-opening of the Tubi App gives the option to resume. I do not see that option with YouTube TV. Once I open YouTube TV, it simply starts immediately with the last show watched even if from the night before.
One needs to hit the back button and figure out how to get to the Live Shows.
Even the Show Guide is from the previous spot, not the newly opened time.
It is unclear if the feature can be turned off.
The only way I have deduced to prevent this feature is NOT to hit the home button to close YTTV but rather hit the back button a couple of times and then manually exit YTTV.
I have an older Roku, and this is not the case; I watch YTTV on my computer or phone or tablet and this feature does not exist.
If I missed something, please let me know or if there is an adjustment to my summary please add as needed.
By the way, the only reason I bought the Roku was because YouTube TV no longer works on my Samsung Smart TV. Separate discussion.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I may not have explained it properly. It’s not when I turn off the TV or turn off YouTube TV, it’s only when I toggle back-and-forth from headphone mode to speaker mode. Every time I hit the headphone button on my Iphone remote, it either goes to the start of the program, and sometimes to the end of the program. It only does it in YouTube TV. I also have FrndlyTV and it doesn’t have a problem with it.
Definitely a first world problem, but it makes me cranky.
Sorry if I didn’t explain it properly.
