A few days ago the channel apps on my Philips Roku TV stopped working. When I click on any of them (other than Prime) it goes to a gray/black screen then right back to home. Pime video works just fine, but I did a network reset anyway. Have also checked that the system was up to date and all apps as well, have done a system restart, deleted apps then reinstalled, checked all connections, nothing works. Non-working apps include (but are not limited to) Paramount+, PBS kids, Tubi, Spectrum, CBS news, YouTube, etc.
Great to see you here, @dieseldad97!
We're glad you reported this. We get that you're having trouble streaming with your Roku TV as you're experiencing playback issues with your apps, and we'd love to help you out.
Can you answer these brief questions for us?
In the meantime, we recommend trying a different network, such as a mobile hotspot and see if there is any difference.
Let us know what you find out!
Best,
The Roku Community Team
I'm having the same problem on my Mom's tv - apps worked fine last night and now tonight they don't - I select and app and press ok then it starts to load then goes back to home
I've checked for updates for both tv and individual apps - reset the router and the extension and still nothing
@NeedleNinja, have you reset the TV? Simply turning it off and on doesn't do anything. Try performing a System restart under Settings->System->Power.
Ive been having the same issue as everyone else when it comes to you tube never staying logged in anymore, and Amazon Prime Video controls not working as they should. The issue over a year ago was that the relationship between Roku and YouTube has run its course and Roku couldnt achieve a new contract so YouTube no longer updates its app for Roku, and/or Roku no longer updates its functionality with YouTube app. So we will never stay signed in again. Thw same thing is probably to blame for my Amazon glithcing and my newer Netlfix vontrols glitching. Though, neither of those apps have an issue keeping me logged in. Heres another hint: Official Roku repliers want u to send them your tv model privately instead of in chat. Probably, this is so that they can privately tell u that the app is no longer supported and not have the chat forum get upset publicly. Cant even comment on it or start a reply, so im replying here.
TCL Roku Tv. Software fully updated, but checked again. System restarted, all streaming channels radded and resinged jnto. Still, nothing works. Dont ever expect toys to work like they used to. its called planned obsolescance for a reason. It's just that Roku used to be more of a scrappy cool hacker box-- very barebones and rustworthy. Now that they are in TVs, the company must have shifted tons in order to stave off competition driven bankrupcy. It just sucks becusse they started out as such a trustworthy company. But all things grow and change. 😑
