I did provide that information if you would just scroll up…
Hi Community users,
Thank you so much for all the information you have provided. Rest assured, these are all taken care of. We still need an additional update. Besides Netflix, would you mind specifying other channels that were affected? We'd like to add this information to the note.
Once this information is available, we'll be able to relay it to the appropriate team for an additional investigation.
We're hoping for your response.
Thanks,
Janadee

A hard reset solved the problem.
Disconnect the Roku device from the TV and the power supply, then wait 30 seconds. Reconnect to the TV and the power supply, and when the bouncing Roku screen comes up on the TV, press the reset button on the Roku device and hold it pressed for 20 seconds.
This takes you to the Roku setup screen and then it's time to set up the device all over again like you did when you first got the Roku.
Pretty sure the last software update caused this. Not fun, Roku.

Yep, I did the same thing and got the same results. After the reset it seems to be working fine.

Thank you plutoaddict. Your instructions for a hard reset is the only solution that worked. Ridiculous when a company breaks their own device and has no solution themselves. Their update added more clutter to my home screen in my opinion too

Exact same problem here, started today but with different apps though: Pluto, YouTube, Paramount, Amazon. The app doesn't seem to matter. Video plays for a few minutes then exits to home screen.

This started happening on my Roku 2 and Roku Ultra a "few" days ago. I have been using both devices without issue for many years.
Discovery+ and PlexTV channels NOW both play video for 3 minutes and then they stop and the home screen appears.
Repeatable on two Roku devices. What's special NOW about 3 minutes? These channels have worked fine for years.
I removed the PlexTV Channel from Roku 2 and re added it. Same issue with new channel install.

2 year old Roku Ultra. This week it started closing apps and going to Home Screen. Tried all of the updates, restarts, unplugs, etc. Hardwired Internet, Roku plugged into wall outlet directly. WTF over?
Just did it for the 6th time in 30 minutes with Youtube. Does it with Adult Swim, Retro TV, ESPN during freaking HOCKEY. Bummer........
Funny how it never does it during the commercials on Youtube, even if I let the minutes long ones run.

It now happens even with Sirius Xm played on Roku.
I thought casting Disney+ from my phone to Roku might do the trick, but that doesn't work either.
There is obviously something seriously wrong with Roku. And no sign of a solution.

I don’t know how to say this any plainer
the Roku device is a POS.
well maybe not the device it’s the software behind it.The Roku experts just jack you around hoping the engineers will come up with a solution.
unfortunately the problem morphs and becomes something just a little different each week.
do your self a favor and get a different streaming device.
if you doubt me just google Roku device problems
