I continue to have Youtube recordings freeze when I FF past a certain point and Key Plays freeze as well. The previous topic was posted as "Solved" and said to start a new topic if issue continues so here you go.
Model 4640 Ultra
s/n YP007H079552
ver. 14.0
device id 7LC6C7079552
Fiber to house, ethernet to Router 10 feet from tv, wireless 5G to Panasonic TV THX-50PX60U currently 77Mbps
Roku connected via HDMI, TV speakers, have tried 720p, 1080p and automatic(1080p)happens on all resolutions
Youtube TV removed, Roku restarted and app ver 2.20 build 110005590 reinstalled 1/6/25
Issue: Same that has been going on since late spring, view or fast forward past a certain point(different every time) and video freezes, video with Key plays freezes while auto-playing or when manually cycling through. Sometimes manually changing the resolution of frozen video unfreezes it and it seems the newer the recording is (usually less than 48 hrs) the more prone it is to freezing. The only thing I've ever had freeze are live show recordings that are more than 1 hour long and not all of them do it.
Latest was Notre Dame v. Penn State. issue ID 52-013-729, 10 hours after recording watched the Key plays then rewound back about 20 minutes from the end and it wouldn't play from that point. Can FF or RW and see the thumbnails at those points but press play and nothing happens. 3 hrs. later tried it again and it works fine.
Happened again today issue ID 52-015-132. Ohio v. TX at Key Play #8, and then at approx 3:12 into the recording after FF to that point
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the YouTube TVl app?
After removing the channel, but BEFORE reinstalling it, RESTART** your Roku to clear its memory cache. Without the restart you may not get a clean reinstall. This is not a cure-all but at least it will assure you of having an uncorrupted copy of the current channel app.
Depending on your Roku model number you'll find the "System restart" option under either "Settings > System > Power" or under "Settings > System". If you don't have sufficient control to use the menus, or if it is just more convenient, you can also restart by pulling the power plug for a short while, then plugging it back in.
**On a Roku TV with "Fast TV Start" enabled, turning the TV off/on only puts you in/out of a low power standby state, it does NOT give you a complete restart. Use the methods above.

Just got off Roku chat support and after the standard troubleshooting (latest versions of Roku and Youtube TV, restarting and reconnecting everything) they said it's Youtube TV's problem and "out of their scope because Roku does not have DVR services". I could recreate the issue at every step and they never asked for any other info.
Dear Roku Support,
I’ve been a loyal Roku user for many years and have always appreciated the reliability and convenience your devices provide. However, I’ve recently encountered a persistent issue with the YouTube TV app that has been extremely frustrating. The Key Plays feature, which I use frequently as a passionate sports fan, crashes consistently on all my Roku devices.
The problem only occurs on Roku devices. When I use YouTube TV on other platforms, such as Fire TV Stick or LG Smart TVs, the Key Plays feature works flawlessly. I’ve tried everything—reinstalling the app, restarting my Roku devices, and ensuring my 1 GB fiber internet connection is stable—but nothing has resolved the issue.
Until now, I’ve never thought of switching to another platform, but this ongoing problem is making me consider alternatives. Many others in the Roku Community have reported the same issue, and some have already made the switch to Fire TV Stick, where this feature works without any issues.
I want to continue using Roku, but I need to know if this issue is being addressed. Could you confirm if there is an update planned to resolve this compatibility problem with the YouTube TV app? I would appreciate any information or guidance you can provide.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Best regards,
Bill Falik

I'm done with this. I'm tired of 8 months of he said, she said with each provider pointing a finger at the other. Roku says Youtube tv is working on a solution and Youtube says they were told OS 14 solved the problem. The issue tracking board says contact Google support. Yeah, well, good luck with that.
I cancelled youtube tv, got a chromecast and subscribed to Hulu +Live TV and so far it works great. I'll probably cancel my Max subscription through Roku as well and get it through Disney. This is almost as liberating as telling Spectrum to take a hike.
