Pausing at beginning of show

I upgraded to the Roku express a few months ago and ever since I have a few channels that pause play at the beginning of every show. Never had any problems before. Is it the express device or something else?

Re: Pausing at beginning of show

Hello @Kgrbabe62

Glad you're here so we can best assist you.

Could you tell us how are you powering your Roku device? Is it connected to the USB port of the TV or to a wall outlet? In some cases, the USB power provided by the TV is not sufficient to power the device. Even though your Roku device may appear to be working, running with insufficient power can lead to instability, crashing, and other unpredictable behavior.

Using the included power cord and power adapter, we suggest plugging your Roku into a working power outlet in the wall. Powering it through a power outlet in the wall has the additional advantage that your Roku player will not need to power up every time you turn on your TV. This means your Roku player will be up and running faster than it would be connected to a TV.

Let us know if there's any difference after.

Re: Pausing at beginning of show

I'm using what came in the box, and plugged into a surge protector directly plugged into the wall receptacle.

@Kgrbabe62

Thanks for following up.

In some cases with playback, restarting the Roku and router may resolve the issue. Have you tried restarting your Roku device and the router? We would recommend doing the restart of your Roku device from the Settings menu by navigating to Settings > System > Power (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.) > System restart.

To restart your router properly, you may need to review instructions from your internet service provider (ISP) or router manufacturer. Or you can simply unplug your router and plug it back in, and in other cases, it may require pressing a reset button on the device.
