MSNBC no longer live streaming.

Since 10/9/23 MSNBC network (which must be accessed via the NBC app) will not live stream. It is possible to select and view their recorded content and shows, but the live stream option no longer works. The MSNBC Live Now option appears, but it cannot be selected. Try selecting it and absolutely nothing happens. This is occurring on all of my Roku devices. 
There are no problems live streaming MSNBC on other devices (iPhone, iPad, PC) so this looks like a Roku issue.

    we're sorry to hear about this, and we'd like to help. You can perform this troubleshooting step below to see if it resolves the issue.

    1. Navigate to the channel tile on the Roku home screen, press the star (*) key on your remote, and choose "Remove channel".
    2. Next, restart your device from Settings > System > Power > System Restart (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step).
    3. Once your player/TV starts up again, go to "Streaming Store" on the Home screen, and add the channel back once more.

    If the issue persists after performing the provided troubleshooting step, you may want to contact the channel provider's support directly and inquire further about this issue for a workaround that needs an update on their end to resolve this since most channels on the Roku platform are designed and maintained by the channel providers themselves.

    Please be aware that independent apps or channels, including MSNBC on the Roku streaming platform, are being created, maintained, and updated by the channel providers themselves. You can contact them through their Customer Support website or directly contact their line at 1-212-664-4444.

    May we first know which specific Roku streaming player you are having this issue with? We also need to make sure that you have performed the troubleshooting steps precisely to work. It should be in this order: remove the app > reboot your device > and re-install it. 

    Furthermore, have you tried to reach out the Customer Support of MSNBC regarding this matter? If not, we highly recommend it, as they are the ones who created, maintained, and updated their app on the Roku streaming platform. You can also directly contact their phone number at 1-212-664-4444.

    Temporary Workaround:

    Search for and add the separate MSNBC  Live channel.

    After the trial period of 10 minutes, you will be asked for sign in information.

    I gave my Verizon info, same as for NBC app, and it worked fine.

    Oddly, this app does not show in my normal channel listings.

    It does show, however, when I select "See All."

    This gives access to MSNBC live.

     

    I hope the regular NBC MSNBC app gets fixed soon.

      Thanks, john70. Good as a temp workaround, though quite cumbersome. Hope Roku and NBC quit blaming each other for the problem and get it fixed ASAP.

      Thanks to John70 for giving us a solution that actually works.  I got the same balderdash response from NBC several days ago (I'm writing on 10/17) but the problem has not been fixed.

    I noticed this too and it's very annoying.. It still shows up as an option but says N/A under it and you cannot select.. I can go to the Peacock app and select channels, go to Morning Joe live from there..

        Didn't work.. I would have no idea how to contact NBC for their Roku app.. seems odd that you would post that being your platform but okay..

    Same issue here. Live shows N/A and does not respond to button presses.

    Exactly.  seems to be a Roku issue only. I chatted with Roku support - absolutely no help. Said they would escalate to a different team and let me know by email. Have heard nothing.

    Why is it that people are being deprived of seeing MSNBC ? We just recently got a smart tv and we been looking for MSNBC and I would like to know what,s up with this ? It is the only channel that we cannot find and it is the most trueful news station on that there is and so many people are looking for it also ! So that's why our country is in such a mess because we are being deprived of the truth...and now we have a answer to that so there should be a way to let the truth be told world-wide. So do I just stop searching for it or what?

    Well, that sucks. We were happy to see when CNN started live broadcasting on MAX. Too bad NBC Universal isn't as smart as NAX / Warner Bros Discovery, in that NBC Universal should be offering LIVE broadcasting of ALL MSNBC programming on the Peacock Ap.  Since our household basically only uses Sling for watching CNN and MSNBC, it would be great if we could drop Sling altogether. Maybe NBCUniversal will finally get around to waking up and follow the lead of MAX / Warner Bros Discovery.

    On my Samsung television, not ROKU. if I choose live I get MSNBC!

    it's 11/22 and still happening on my Samsung TV NBC app + Spectrum cable log in. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling app. Have tried signing in and out of Spectrum. Nothing. So annoying.

      Follow these instructions exactly. This worked for me.

      Scroll down to “Search.” Choose NBC News. It’s on a white background with a Peacock and the words NBC News. Do not choose any other icon. Click on that. Click “Watch now.” The Peacock with NBC News will appear. There will be an error message that says “Stream error. Stream was unable to connect due to a network area.” Click OK. Then you will see some icons on the top that say NBC News, MSNBC, and Today. Press the arrow up and try to get to those. It won’t let you and there will be multiple square boxes that appear. At that point, hit the arrow on the left at the top of the remote.  Then the icons will appear again. Now hit the arrow up. The first one that will appear is NBC News hit the arrow to the right and it will land on MSNBC. Hit OK.

    It streams live through the NBC app that you mentioned. I go to NBC News on Roku that comes in live. It offers a choice to go to MSNBC live. I'm watching it live now.
