My Apple TV app is not working on my Roku tv. It is a brand new TV. All my other apps are working fine. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall, restart the power. None of this has worked. When you click on the app, it just spins and spins and spins.

I just added a new subscription to appletv plus with the black friday deal...set up the account, put in credit card info etc. And I am unable to watch it keeps telling me to renew and I have even tried this which, in turn, tells me that I already have an active subscription. Going in circles.
I did contact apple support and spent nearly 2 hours on the phone and they couldn't figure it out either. They gave me a ticket number and said they are working on it, thay this has been happening with roku a lot.
Not just that Apple TV app is broken, entire Roku Premiere+ box restarts whenever Apple TV app is launched. Tried all remedies including power cycle the box, software update, reinstalling/installing app, removing unused apps to make room in memory. This is a serious situation that merely invoking the app is bringing down the entire system.
A work around is to use Google Chromecast and download the Apple TV app. I can watch it via Chromecast but cannot directly on Roku TV, which is ridiculous because I bought my Roku TV at Best Buy and they had a promotion with three months of free Apple TV and it does not work on the TV that they're selling the promotion for.
I am unable also to open the apple tv app on roku. I just spent an hour on the phone with Apple, and went thru all the steps they suggested, and it still doesn't work. It seems that the apple app is trying to open, it goes to a dark screen, and for a tenth of a second, I can see the apple logo, but then the screen goes back to the app page.
I have uninstalled the apple app, restarted roku, and then, reinstalled the apple app, no luck. I have changed the audio to Doby Plus with no luck. I am beyond frustrated. The apple rep told me to contact Roku, so here I am.
Yes, that is also happening to me, that when I try to launch the apple app, the roku system restarts. This has been a problem with apple/roku for a couple years now. One would think they would have found a solution by now.
To update my previous comment, after I spoke with an Apple rep for an hour, and I went back to my tv, none of my apps would launch. Frustrated would not even describe how I felt. So, at this point, I did a 'factory' reset' Oddly, the apple rep never told me to do this. I went to 'settings', then 'system', then 'Advanced system settings', and then clicked on 'factory reset', and yes, you will need to go thru the steps like your roku is new, but guess what,
IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!! I can now watch Apple tv and anything else on the Roku, menu.
Really shocked, however, that nowhere online, did it tell me to do this.
And, the Apple guy, did not even tell me to do this.
P.S. This is NOT an Apple Problem. Roku keeps referring us to Apple. This is a Roku problem. The community has been posting about this issue for over 2 years. It is certainly time for Roku to fix the problem.
I completely understand your frustration. I did the same thing, contacted Roku, and Roku is telling me to go to Apple.
