Roku setup

I am setting up my Roku streaming stick for the first time. I have everything plugged in correctly (the Roku stick is plugged into the TV, the wireless receiver is plugged into the stick and an outlet). Each time I get to a language screen and then receive an error message that says “wireless receiver not detected.” I am sure it is plugged into the Roku player, and I have tried unplugging and plugging it back in multiple times. I’ve seen many people with this problem, is there a solution?

I think the solution is to return it.  There seems to be a problem with these wireless receivers either being bad from the beginning or going bad in a short period of time.  Since they're $20 to replace unscrupulous people have been know to buy a new stick, swap out the wireless receiver, and return the stick.  Perhaps you got one of those.
