Hi!
My remote stopped working with my Roku. I ordered a new one from Roku and it will not pair. I finally reset my Roku and now I am getting a Missing Advanced Wireless Receiver. Everything is hooked up like it is supposed to be but now I have a new remote and my Roku won't work.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Hey, @pastortlc.
It's great to have you here in the Roku Community!
Thanks for reaching out here with your issue with your remote and advance wireless receiver that won't work on your Roku, and we'd like to be able to help.
To help us understand better, could you tell us more about it?
In the meantime, can you try setting it up on another TV to see if the issue persists?
Let us know what you find out.
Best,
The Roku Community Team
The Advanced Wireless Receiver (AWR) is a nodule that is part of the USB power cable for recent Streaming Stick models, so that error message would indicate you have one of the Streaming Stick models. These models are normally used behind the TV, where infrared (IR) signals from most remotes cannot reach. Consequently, Streaming Sticks have no IR receptors and are controlled by Roku remotes which connect by WiFi, not IR. In the current product line, this means any one of the Voice Remote models. Non-voice Roku remotes control via infrared, not WiFi, and will not work with Streaming Sticks.
The AWS nodule in the USB cable contains the WiFi radio for these models, unlike other models where the radio is located inside the Roku itself. The AWS is essential for the unit's operation, both to connect to the internet via the local WiFi network, and to communicate with the Streaming Stick's WiFi remote. Should it be missing or not functional you cannot replace it with a normal USB cable without this module.
