Old Roku sold now shows new device signed in

Jump to solution

Hello. I just sold an older Roku SE unit tonight and then i get an email message saying a new device signed into your peacock account at a time when I was at work and my husband would’ve been in bed asleep. Was I supposed to do something to clear out any account information, etc on it?

When you part ways with an old Roku device, you should Factory Reset it. (press and hold reset button in for 30+ seconds).  This will restore it to the setup/activation screen (ie. new condition).

However, you can still go to your online dashboard at https://www.roku.com/ and "Remove" your device from your account.  After login, scroll down to your device, select it,  and then select "Remove device from account".

Additionally, some subscriptions/channels/apps have an additional option to logout all users or certain devices.  I would go to your Peacock login page first and see if that option still exists.  From a help page here https://www.peacocktv.com/help/article/is-it-possible-to-force-all-devices-on-my-account-to-be-signe..., I am not sure if still available, but I would try prior to removing the Roku device from my account.

Likely a good idea to do across the board for any of your paid subscriptions that you had on your Roku device. (just a little extra assurance).
