Please begin by downloading the Official Roku Mobile App. This will help prevent any confusion as you proceed.

In connecting the Roku device to your phone via Roku mobile, please bear in mind the following steps below: 

  1. Check if your phone and Roku device are connected to the same network. If you're unsure that your Roku is connected to the same network, check it under Settings > Network > About. 
  2. If both devices are connected to the same network, launch the Roku app and sign in to your Roku account.
  3. After signing in, go to the Devices section at the bottom of the screen. A list of Roku devices will appear on the screen. Click Connect device to the Roku that wants to connect with the Phone.
  4. Now, your phone can control your Roku device without a physical remote.

If you're struggling to connect your Roku through the Roku App to your phone, you can manually connect your phone to your Roku device by: 

Connecting your Roku device manually. Locate your Roku device's IP address by going to Settings > Network > About, and then use the steps below to connect manually. 

  1. Launch the Roku mobile app
  2. Tap Devices
  3. Tap Get help?
  4. Select Connect manually
  5. Enter the IP address of your Roku device and tap CONNECT

Hello. 

I have an issue with my app not working my TV. I have the official Roku app and at first it will work ok for a few days and then says it cannot see or connect to the tv. 

I have again tried to connect to the tv, making sure that both the tv and my phone are on the same network. It still says it cannot wake the tv and then after a few tries it says there is no Roku device on this network. If I refresh the page it see the device but still will not let me connect to it. 

Please help before I go mad!

@R32blue, do you have "Fast TV Start" enabled under Settings->System->Power?
