What happened to Roku's streaming ap for Android? I can not find it in the app store. The only thing I can find it the remote control app.
Roku is streamlining how users access entertainment and is discontinuing the dedicated The Roku Channel mobile app. Starting on October 14th 2021, users will no longer be able to use The Roku Channel mobile app. Mobile users can still access The Roku Channel via the Roku utility app.
From within the Roku Remote App in the Play Store (Android), there is a tab for Roku Channel. (this tab is where the Roku Channel content is).
Oy ya, I found that. It allows me to use my android as a remote controller for my Roku box connected to my television allowing me to use my android to dial up the Roku channel on my Television as you stated. The app actually finds both my Roku controllers by serial number. Unfortunately, that is not what I am after.
What I am after is to watch the Roku channel ON MY ANDROID, not my TV.
The official Roku Remote app allows you to watch the Roku Channel directly on your phone/tablet using that tab labeled Roku Channel. You do not have to connect to your television. However, you can also use your web browser on your android device to navigate to https://therokuchannel.roku.com/ as well if this is easier for you. Either way will allow you to watch Roku Channel content on your android device
I am assuming here you are referring to a mobile device (phone/tablet) for the above info.
Sure thing. Here is screenshot from my Android MotoZ. You should see Roku Channel tab.. This is the one to choose, not Remote or Devices. (devices will connect to your network TVs.) The Remote function will then act as remote for these connected devices. To simply watch Roku Channel on your phone/tablet, select Roku Channel.
Once you select the Roku channel tab, should be able to access everything playing on Roku Channel.

Under the Devices tab, select "Forget Devices". You are connected to your Roku currently. It is in Remote mode. Once you are disconnected from your devices, it should behave as described above.
