The streamFormat value for playing MKV video is "mkv", but you will also need to add a line to your manifest file: requires_mkv=1

I thought this might be the key, but I still can't seem to get it to work. A video that works fine via USB gives me the dreaded "An unexpected problem (but not server timeout or HTTP error) has been detected." error in my test channel. 😞

requires_mkv=1 goes in your manifest file.

No. Per RokuChris's post immediately before yours...

Re: MKV Support Details?

MKV can only be played via USB at this time. It cannot currently be streamed over http.

Re: MKV Support Details?

I am thinking about getting a ROKU XDS. It is going to replace my WDTV Live.
I have a WD Sharespace NAS where all my files are stored on it.
Does anyone know if I can stream .mkv files to the XDS like the WD live can? thanks!

Err, the answer, as noted in the post immediately prior to yours, is no. Not currently. MKV is supported only through directly attached USB devices currently.
