audio control with Ultra remote

Jump to solution

I'm in process of setting up my ultra roku device and everything has setup as expected, except I cannot control the volume with the Ultra remote. I can control the volume with the remote that came with the Samsung TV.

I have another roku device setup on another Samsung TV in the house and did not have this problem. I could control the audio from the start with no setup changes.

Anyone have any thoughts on this??  I have checked everything I can think of.

I'm wondering if the roku is faulty and I need to exchange the device.

Thanks for the post.

Have you paired your remote to your TV?

Purchased Roku for the first time and the sound is on 100 on my TV but can barely hear the sound. Most disappointing purchase in electronics ever made. Really upset you cannot call them for help to troubleshoot. Considering returning it. Streambar sucks on audio.
Will have to go back to firestick it looks like. Would like to hear from Roku with sn answer.

Re: audio control with Ultra remote

Group, here is what I've experienced recently with two(2) Roku Ultra devices connected to two(2) separate Samsung Smart TV's -

1. Volume control became erratic and often inoperative (meaning I had sound but could not adjust the level and the TV's will show the volume level window when pressing the remote buttons as well as the manual volume control on the back of the TV, but would not change sound level) using Roku remotes and Samsung remotes in the year 2020, though all other functions are normal operation.

2.  Factory reset both Roku Ultra and perform setup. No change, poor and/or no volume control with any remotes.

3. Have paired all remotes dozens times, control may return for a brief period or not at all.

4. Replaced HDMI cables, no change.

5. Replaced Roku remotes, no change.

6. Switched HDMI input ports, no change.

7. Perform hard reset and complete setup on TV's, no change.

8. Replaced TV remotes, no change.

The TV's are both 2017 builds, model UN43MU6300FXZA. Both Roku Ultra were purchased as new devices in 2019. I find it very difficult to believe that two TV's lost volume level control at the exact same time without outside influence. So with that, I ask the question, what is the actual solution? The instructions to "pair your remote to your TV" is not the answer as I see other customers have the same issue with no resolution. Any help here?

I have the same problem, after changing batteries, green light flashing, unplugged Roku Ultra and plugged in, came on an remote paired but can't control volume, no volume bar no nothing, can't do it with Roku app either.

Pairing roku remote to the ultra doesn't set up the tv control, that's separate process. With it paired, go into settings:

settings> remote & devices> remote> remote in use> program tv> follow prompts
