Roku remote app is terrible

Jump to solution

For being the biggest streaming device in the world, the Roku remote app is one of the absolute WORST apps I've ever used! There's no excuse for this! Fix it! It looses connectivity every 5-10 seconds and has been like this since it came out. It's unacceptable for such a simple app.

Hi @Jguy317,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

Thanks for bringing this issue of your experience with the Roku app, which loses connectivity, to our attention. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or frustration this may have caused you.

Help is here. Make sure both devices are on the same network and in the same band. Most WiFi routers create two separate networks for each WiFi frequency band (2.4GHz and 5GHz).

Though technically, it shouldn't matter if your phone and Roku are using different frequencies (both bands share the same subnet on your router so that devices can talk to one another), to be sure, place both your phone and your Roku on the same WiFi frequency band.

Visit our Support page for other troubleshooting steps to connect the Roku Mobile app to your device.

Please keep us posted, and we'll continue assisting you from there.

Thank you,
Chel
