Roku Voice Remote Pro wont control the TV power and volume

Jump to solution

I have a voice remote pro (only a couple of months old) and it was working fine with my samsung tv with roku stick. TV went dead, got a new Roku TV, which came with a voice remote, and I was able to add the VRP and the VR to the new TV. However. The VRP will do everything BUT control volume with the buttons, although I can use voice for that, but it's a pain. I thought it might be conflicting with the VR, but I removed the VR and its batteries, and I still cannot get the VRP to do volume.

Also, I'm getting weird readings on the battery levels. I had the VRP plugged in all night, but it says it's at 3%. And it has no problem controlling anything other than the volume. Also, when both remotes are added into the system, only one of them has options, but not the other.

I have tried pairing and all the troubleshooting steps. Any help here?

Thanks,

Debbie

Hi @Lefty70,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

We are here to assist you with your issue concerning the Roku Voice Remote Pro, which is not controlling the power and volume of your TV. Additionally, it indicates only 3% battery remaining, even though the remote is functioning. We would be more than willing to sort this out for you.

Could you clarify whether this remote is the Roku Voice Remote Pro 2nd edition or the 1st edition? If you could send us a photo of your remote, that would be more helpful.

In the meantime, we suggest you try the following:

Reset your Roku remote

  • If your rechargeable voice remote has a pairing button, press and hold the pairing button on the back of the remote for 20 seconds.
  • If your rechargeable voice remote does not have a pairing button, press and hold the Back and Home for 20 seconds.

When the status light stops flashing your rechargeable voice remote has successfully rebooted. For reference, please visit our Roku Support article: How to fix your Roku voice remote that is not working

We hope to get this sorted out soon. Please keep us posted.

Cheers,
