Roku Ultra rechargeable remote not charging properly

Jump to solution

i've had several rechargeable remotes for the Roku Ultra, with the head-phone jack.  at least three, maybe four.  so with the one i have now, i'm trying to be careful not to over-charge/ruin the battery.  so i only charge it about ten minutes at a time.   that'll give me about an hour, give or take.   and it doesn't give me the 10% power level notification anymore,  it just lets me know when the battery is about to die out completely.  then i have only a few seconds, or a minute or two before i have to plug it in.  it seems unlikely that i've run down the battery, being as how i never charge it for that long.  if anyone has any ideas about what i should do, please tell me and leave a comment.

Hi, @nobodynoname

Thanks for posting here in the Roku Community.

We appreciate you for sharing with us about the functionality of your Roku Voice Remote, and we're here to help!

Refer to the information below regarding the instructions and guide on the charging duration for the Roku Voice Remote models.

  • Roku Voice Remote Pro: From empty, a full charge takes 3 hours and typically lasts 2 months. Using Headphone Mode will drain the battery more quickly.
  • Roku Voice Remote Pro (2nd edition): From empty, a full charge takes 5.5 hours and typically lasts 3 months.

For more information, you can visit this support article in Getting to know your Roku Voice Remote Pro

We hope this helps, and feel free to keep us posted if you have further concerns or inquries.

Thanks,

I have the same problem - I will leave it charging for about 4 hours or so, and it lasts me about a week. I don't get any notifications that the battery is low, but then it dies. I've had Roku devices for fifteen years, this has never been a problem before...

mine's been glitching on me like crazy with the charging.  i tried leaving mine plugged in about ten minutes for a movie, and i went to settings to check the battery level.  it didn't seem to be charging.  it said it was still below 10%.  these batteries are so easily ruined.  i've already had 3 or 4 remotes before this...and the Roku voice remote Pro-the original 1st edition-is sometimes sold out.  Well, not at the moment, but maybe later in the day.  i think people especially like the original, maybe because of the headphone jack.

That's the one I have! I like it for the two programmable buttons, if they're gonna stick me with a bunch of sponsored options fine, but at least two of them are the apps I use the most.

Plugged it in overnight, we'll see how long this charge lasts... I'm betting less than 7 days. Roku, as a 15 year customer, this is pretty disappointing.

Hi, @mmmelizabeth @nobodynoname

Thanks for posting here in the Roku Community.

I understand the issue you have encountered with the Roku Voice Remote Pro that is not charging.

May I know what specific Roku Voice Remote Pro model you are having issues with?

In the meantime, please take note of the information below:

  • Roku Voice Remote Pro: From empty, a full charge takes 3 hours and typically lasts 2 months. Using Headphone Mode will drain the battery more quickly.
  • Roku Voice Remote Pro (2nd edition): From empty, a full charge takes 5.5 hours and typically lasts 3 months.

Additionally, it is recommended to use the cable that came with the Roku Voice Remote Pro and to try a different power brick for charging the remote.

Keep us posted.

Thanks,
The Roku Community Team.

for the model # ,it says RC832.  it's supposed to be the original Roku Voice Remote Pro 1st edition.  i bought it at WalMart, but i don't know how that would make a difference.

so as not to ruin the battery, i only charge the remote for a few minutes at a time.

i don't really want the 2nd edition voice remote pro, because that one doesn't have a headphone  jack .
