  • Hi everyone,

    Thanks for the posts.

Please be aware that the Roku 4 model devices are older and are most likely no longer under warranty.

If you need a replacement remote for your Roku device, you can purchase a compatible remote on our Products page here: https://www.roku.com/products/accessories/player.

    Thanks,
    Danny

  • I am having similar issues with much newer remotes. The batteries last days/weeks. I think I have swapped out batteries at least 50 times!

    Any help or suggestions?

    Thanks

:smileyfrustrated: Luckily I only wasted 2 good batteries This is what helped me. Check for system updates then try a system restart.
Setting -System -system updates Settings -System -system restart  Good luck!

*** this time everything on the remote works except volume +\-  & mute. Ugh.

****Went to remote settings & it showed I had 2 remotes connected to the tv. So deleted the not in use one & clicked on “in use” remote and went through the sound check steps that popped up. “Do you hear the music playing?” “Has the music stopped?”

      Finally !!!

Thank you LaineeSews! I did this on all devices and the battery drain continues. Glad it solved for you!

What Roku model device are you using? Are you using the Private Listening feature on your remote?

With more detailed information we will be able to assist you further.

It seems a shame to have to replace my Roku 4 that works great or to have to spend money for a hardware issue that the company should resolve

Your model is 7 years old way out of warranty, roku may help with a new remote that's up to them. You may enjoy apple tv+ on a newer roku, your's doesn't have, be prepared for other newer channels not being available on your roku 4. How's the fan noise?

  • Similar problem.  Now I put in brand new batteries into the remote, but device still says they are no good, even though my meter says they are max.   I decided to just order a new remote.

We shall see.  The new remote I ordered from Roku was only 9.99 or 10.86 with tax.   Will post my reactions upon receipt.  (I know Roku was suggesting updating the entire device, but that is an unreasonable expense I think.)   AMENDMENT TO THIS REPLY (September27th):   I received my replacement remote and the problems seem to have disappeared.   It would have been nice if Roku had replaced it, but apparently the warranty has expired.   So, I am happy with my purchase;  I didn't have to replace everything, just the remote, and all is well.

  • Ha!  This is so true.  But it varies per remote.  I believe it to be the motherboard.  I think they poorly pass QA and will continue to crush your batteries.  Buy new remotes and hope for the best.  That's what I did.

Roku should replace our remotes ASAP. Maybe we should make our comments of displeasure on their facebook or youtube pages for all to see!
