[Solved] YouTube TV Fast Forwarding Issue on OS 14

Hey everyone,

We're aware that some users on OS 14 are experiencing issues with fast-forwarding in the YouTube TV app.

Status Update 3/31/25: The good news is that this should be fixed with the upcoming OS 14.5 update, which we're rolling out over the next few weeks.

In the meantime, you can manually check for the update by going to Settings > System > Software Update > Check Now.

If you’re still experiencing the issue after updating to OS 14.5, let us know!

We believe you're experiencing an issue with a specific feature in the YouTube TV app. We're working with Google on a resolution.

We're going to mark this thread as solved and close it for now.

Since many apps on Roku are developed by the app providers themselves, we recommend contacting Google channel support directly for assistance with this specific feature.

I'm trying to get an update on when the 'future release' that supposedly fixes a known issue that's been going on for 6 months will actually be released. The issue in the tracker has been marked 'solved by a future release'. It's been a month since a Roku mod has set the issue as solved thus not allowing end users to comment, ask questions, get updates, etc.

When will this future release happen that has this fix in it? It's beyond frustrating that basic fast forward functionality isn't working with YouTube TV; I would categorize that as a basic DVR use case since pretty much the late 1980s. I need to know if I need to ditch my Roku devices (I have 3 of them in my house) and move to something else so I can get my money's worth with YTTV.

    • Hey! ROKU! Fix the problem or everyone who subscribes to YouTube TV and utilizes ROKU will dump you and switch to an Amazon Fire Stick or a Google dongle that, oh by the way, doesn't have this infuriating issue. And please stop the completely unhelpful canned responses. If you don't have a clue how to fix it or when you'll fix it, try being honest for a change.

      Thanks.

    Hey everyone,

We know some of you are having trouble fast-forwarding in the YouTube TV app.

We're working closely with Google on this, and they're currently working on a fix.

Since many channels on Roku are developed and maintained by the channel providers themselves, we recommend reaching out to Google support directly with your feedback. They're the ones who decide on and add new features to their channel.

For any other issues you encounter with the YouTube TV channel or other Roku channels, feel free to start a new thread in the Community.

We're going to mark this issue as resolved.

    Thanks,

    The Roku Community Team

I have 2 Roku s and 2 TCL tvs and all do the same on YouTube tv...so frustrating..now just had new update on my ultra and it freezes and has rebooted 4 x in 2 days. Many times when we try to rewind something, our Roku's freeze up and then reboots. I travel and have two different routers and it still does it at both places...OMG!!
